Roommate Emergency Contact Sheet Template

Every shared household needs an emergency contact sheet that everyone can access quickly. In an emergency you do not want to be searching through group chats for the landlord's number or trying to remember who to call about the water shutoff.

This template includes spaces for landlord contact information, emergency maintenance numbers, utility company contacts for gas, electric, water, and internet, poison control and local emergency services, and each roommate's emergency contact person.

Fill it out together on move-in day and post a physical copy in a visible location like the kitchen or hallway. Also save a digital copy in your shared household folder so everyone has it on their phone.

Include practical information alongside emergency contacts. Where is the circuit breaker? The water shutoff valve? The gas meter? The fire extinguisher? Knowing these locations before you need them can prevent small problems from becoming disasters.

Update the contact sheet whenever a roommate moves out or a new one moves in. Review it every six months to make sure all numbers are still current. A few minutes of maintenance can save hours of stress during an actual emergency.
