Deep Clean Checklist for Shared Homes

Regular cleaning keeps things livable but every shared home needs a deep clean periodically, at least once per season and definitely before a new roommate moves in. This checklist covers every room thoroughly.

Kitchen tasks include cleaning inside the oven and microwave, defrosting and deep cleaning the fridge, descaling the kettle and coffee maker, scrubbing grout and tile, degreasing the range hood, cleaning behind and under appliances, and organizing the pantry.

Bathroom tasks include descaling the showerhead and taps, scrubbing grout and re-sealing if needed, deep cleaning the toilet including behind and base, washing shower curtain or cleaning glass doors, and cleaning the extractor fan.

Living areas need washing all cushion covers and throws, vacuuming under and behind all furniture, cleaning windows inside and out, dusting all surfaces including high shelves and light fixtures, and steam cleaning carpets if needed.
